Margaret Scahill - 1940 - Index of Probates and Wills - 1861 to 1941
This is an extract from Ancestry.com
This database is a collection of historical probate records from the United Kingdom. The records in this collection can range in date from the early 1500s to the mid- to late-1800s. The records include wills and other miscellaneous types of probate records. All of the data was converted as it was originally presented in various published registers and books. For this reason, you will find interesting phonetic spellings and large descriptive tables of contents.
What should I know about this collection to access the data?
Some of the records may be in Latin or even a Welsh or Scottish dialect depending on location. The spelling is archaic, and is transcribed as it was written. There are many spelling inconsistencies and non-standard grammar. Phonetic spelling is often used. Try using variant spellings if a search yields no results.

Margaret Scahill - SS Haverford - Passenger - Arriving At - Port Of Philadelphia

...Until January 1, 1820, the U.S. Federal Government did not require require captains or masters of vessels to present a passenger list to U.S. officials. Thus, as a general rule, NARA does not have passenger lists of vessels arriving before January 1, 1820. There are, however, two exceptions to this general rule:
...Rolls 1-29 of M425, Passenger Lists of Vessels Arriving at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1800-1882(108 rolls), which is indexed by M360, Index to Passenger Lists of Vessels Arriving at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1800-1906(151 rolls). Note, however, that M425 undoubtedly does not include everyone arriving at Philadelphia during 1800-1819...

Margaret Scahill - Brigantine Caroline - Record Of Detained Alien

...To many twentieth-century Immigration Passenger Lists, a "Record of Aliens Held for Special Inquiry" and a "Record of Detained Aliens" would be appended after the ship had docked and the passengers had been inspected by U.S. officials. These supplemental lists were microfilmed with the original ship passenger lists to which they were appended.
Record of Aliens Held for Special Inquiry. A "Record of Aliens Held for Special Inquiry" names the passengers who were detained at the immigrant receiving station pending a hearing by a Board of Special Inquiry. It records the reason for the detention, the action taken by the Board, and whether the passenger was admitted or deported. If, for instance, a passenger arrived with measles and had to spend time in quarantine, the Cause of Detention column might show DCD for "detected contagious disease," or LCD for "likely contagious disease," followed by the date the passenger was admitted...
This document is a list of alien passengers bonded from 1 January 1847 to 1 January 1851
