Delia Scahill - US Naturalization Records - District Of New York

This is an extract from the US National Archives website.

Naturalization is the process by which an alien becomes an American citizen. These records can provide a researcher with information such as a person's birth date and location, occupation, immigration year, marital status and spouse information, witnesses' names and addresses, and more.

Prior to 1906, any "court of record" (municipal, county, state, or Federal) could grant U.S. citizenship. As a general rule, the National Archives does not have naturalization records created in State or local courts. However, a few indexes and records have been donated to the National Archives from counties, states and local courts and are available as National Archives microfilm publications. See the list of this county and state microfilm available.

Naturalizations After 1906:
After 1906, the courts forwarded copies of naturalizations to the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS).

Delia Scahill - SS Samaria - United States Citizen - Arriving At - Port Of New York

This is an extract from the United States National Archives website.

Even though passenger arrival records were intended to document foreign or alien immigrants coming into the United States, you will occasionally find U.S. citizens listed on the vessel manifests as well. In the 19th century records, they are much harder to locate, their names generally mixed together with the alien arrivals. You have to note their country of origin to determine any American-born passengers. In the 20th century passenger records, the task of identifying U.S. citizens becomes much easier. In the 1920s, immigration officials started using INS form 630, “List of U.S. Citizens,” which required ship captains to record the names of all native-born or naturalized Americans or citizens of territorial possessions of the United States arriving at a U.S. or territorial port from abroad...

Philomena E. Scahill - Death Records - Brooklyn, New York - Washington State Digital Archives - Social Security Death Index - SSDI

The Washington State Digital Archives is the nation's first archives dedicated specifically to the preservation of electronic records from both State and Local agencies that have permanent legal, fiscal or historical value.

Located in Cheney, WA on the Eastern Washington University campus, the new facility was designed from the ground up to host this technically complex program. The web interface and database storehouse were custom designed specifically for the Digital Archives to hold the unique and very important electronic records found throughout the state, and to provide simple, straight forward access to researchers.

The Digital Archives includes a state of the art research room, complete with computer research stations, a high tech presentation classroom and a world-class data center.

This database contains the Social Security Death Index (SSDI) for individuals who have either died outside of Washington state or have died in a location that cannot be extracted directly from the given data.

The SSA publicly releases the Social Security Number of deceased individuals to prevent identity theft. This allows banks and other businesses to deny the use of these inactive SSNs and prevents a living person from assuming the identity of a deceased person.
