Clement Thomas Scahill - The Ryerson Index - Australian Death Notices

The Ryerson Index Online Database contains 1,471,294 notices from 133 different Australian newspapers. It also includes some funeral notices, probate notices and obituaries.

The Ryerson Index is an on-going index of death notices, obituary notices and genealogical queries published in the two Sydney daily newspapers, the Sydney Morning Herald and the Daily Telegraph.

Indexing commenced in October 1998. Back-indexing the Sydney Morning Herald for the years 1986-1998 is in process. The Kiama Independent is also included. Because the Index was originally created by the Sydney Dead Persons Society, it concentrates on notices from New South Wales papers, although some papers from other states are included also.
